Why Combine Health With Travel?
Taking vacations and escaping the everyday, ordinary, stressfull and tiresome routines plays an important role for your health - and that’s why I’ve included my travel blogs: The Laughing Goats. Most working adults receive 2-3 weeks of vacation time a year, so I've geared my travel trips to accomodate that. My adventures range from a quick 1 day mini-retreat to 30 days vacation. Both can provide healing & rejuvenating health benefits.
Besides, if you’re like me - I’d miss my community, my animals, my church, and my own bed too much to be a non-stop wandering traveler. I’m also open to suggestions for a health topic.

The best part about getting healthy the fun way…. there's no strict diets or rigorous workouts. You'll have some flexibility to personalize your health journey to keep your weekly goals within reach. Setting shorter term goals makes them less daunting and more attainable.
Of course, you’ll need to learn what and when to eat and how to move your body so that it can work like the engine it’s meant to be. It should build & repair muscles, keep digestion flowing, help you focus, and burn fat even while you’re sleeping. And…. you can still reach your goals even while enjoying a few simple pleasures.

Vacations are proven to get those healthy & happy vibes flowing. Vacations also restore balance to your whole being - mental, emotional & physical. The goal is getting balanced which means having an active body, a calm mind, and getting good sleep. And of course, living on Laughter Lane - it’s medicine for a happier you. Having these things will improve the rest of the body’s functions like digestion and cognition.

Did you know that mental/emotional health and physical health are connected? If one improves, so does the other one. The opposite is also true - if one is struggling, the other one will too.
For instance - if you struggle with daily chronic stress, the first to be affected is your mental/emotional state. Soon after you'll start experiencing physical illnesses. Take it from me - I suffered far too long with chronic stress and it started breaking down my mind followed by body illnesses.
The longer you struggle with stress, the more damage it does to your entire being. It’s a nightmare cycle and therefore super critical for you to manage it, or get away from it. See: 12 Stress Kickin Habits.
Would you like to know the secret about vacations? It’s a scientific fact that we all need to escape our everyday struggles. What I’ve found to be the most effective is taking 30-60 minutes every day for a short mini-retreat and at least 2 mini-retreats for 1-4 days every month.
Mini-retreats are the extra boost you need. They give you time to inhale fresh, calming, and positive vibes which releases the negative stuff out with your exhale. Mini-retreats are just mini-vacations meant to keep you in a happier state enough to keep you recharged until it’s time for a VACATION.
Vacations typically last 5 to 30 days. The more time away, the more healing happens. It’s proven the restorative benefits of longer vacations can last up to 5 weeks. Vacations Boost Health
You don't have to go on strict diets or train like an Olympic athlete.
You don't have to worry about things beyond your control or having an off day. Don't beat yourself, just keep trying.
You don't need to set unrealistic goals. A smaller, weekly timeframe to achieve a smaller goal is so much more attainable than if you said I need to loose 50 pounds in 3 months. Reaching smaller goals every week will give you the motivation to keep going.
Can You Have Fun and Be Healthy?
Yes of course you can still have fun AND be healthy. Just temember, life isn’t always a piece of cake…. but you CAN still eat the cake! As I mentioned above, you can still enjoy a few simple pleasures if you follow my advice. Here’s what you DON'T have to do to have a better happy & healthy:
A Little Something About Me
Hi there, my name's Jennifer - that's me on the right with my daughter. In highschool I started my first job, and up until 3 years ago, lived in an office box. I devoted most of my energy to climbing the job ladder and raising a family. Always striving and working more hours - I thought I’d reach the the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow one day.
Here’s What I Know
The pot of gold may have slightly different meanings for people, but it usually involves being able to pay for what you want…. you know, all the good stuff. The truth is - it’s NOT worth it.
It’s a never ending road. In your 30’s you may reach a career & financial goal…. in your 40’s it’s a bigger goal…. in your 50’s you think you almost have it. But you never get it. Now, you’re 60 and you realize you just wasted much of your life on that career that pays quite nicely, but the only thing you got was stuff.
What about the dreams you had decades ago? Dreams of travelling and spending more time with family creating precious memories? And more volunteering which is satisfying? And having a life slow enough to experience those moments of beautiful joy in creation and friendships? This is what’s truely important.

Here's what I start with every day to mentally prepare myself for any challenges ahead.
First, I pray. It gives me strength, comfort, security, and confidence. If I happen to miss it one morning, I usually end up in a face plant position!
It's also important to have a life / work balance…. notice life is the priority, not a job. Exercise, outdoor activities (the right kind of activity also counts as exercise), friends, mini-retreats, and volunteering - all of which boost health.
I still work on minimizing & managing stress so it can't control me anymore. Slowing down in the moment is relaxing, and important, instead of worrying about yesterday or tomorrow..... yeah, still working on that one.
And, I'm learning how to balance my active schedule with rest & relaxation when I need it. This keeps me feeling energetic and ready to tackle anything. Remember - if it's worth having it's going to take a little work to get it, and keep it.
If I haven’t laughed enough during the day, or I’m feeling a littled drained - I tune into some funny YouTube entertainment. Animals, talking parrots, and babies provides all the LOL laugh-out-loud moments I need which keeps those happy hormones multiplying.
Finally, top off the day with a healthy dessert made with protein yogurt that will make you feel like you just cheated…. but you didn’t. I have plans for the future to add all my healthy de-lish desserts.
